Posted October 25, 2018 10:06:13 The NHL has officially launched its partnership with the mobile phone company Xo Communications.
The NHL’s mobile team will be tasked with providing its digital partners with information, analysis and insights into the state of hockey.
The goal is to bring the NHL’s brand of analytics to mobile devices.
The partnership is a direct result of the league’s efforts to connect its players, coaches, front office and corporate clients.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman spoke to the media Thursday morning and said that the partnership was in the works for a few years, but had been on the back burner for a while.
“There were some very good reasons for it to come to fruition,” Bettman said.
“First, there’s a huge amount of trust between our players and our digital partners.
We’re seeing significant progress in the last five years in terms of how we are using technology to build out our relationships with our digital players, and that’s an important thing.” “

The NHL and Xo will be using the partnership to share insights, analysis, and content with digital partners across the league.
For example, the NHL can use analytics from Xo’s mobile analytics tools to analyze what it’s seeing on the ice and how players are performing on a nightly basis.
Bettman also said the partnership will be used to inform NHL.com, a site owned by the league that will provide players and fans with news, stats and game coverage, as well as other key information.
“It will be a valuable asset to us, not just for our players but for our fans,” Bettmann said.
The league said it will have a dedicated team in charge of the partnerships and that the goal is “to connect the NHL to our fans and to our players.”
The partnership comes after the NHL implemented a new digital partnership with BlackBerry earlier this year.
